Acronis True Image 2014 – Introduction

acronis true image 2014 is a great alternative when it comes to Backup and Recovery Software.  I have been a long time user of Acronis, because of it’s simplicity to complete backup and restore process at ease.  Since Acronis True Image 2014 has been released, I couldn’t resist trying out the new features, so I contacted Acronis for a Software Review and I gave it a Test Drive.

Product Overview – Acronis True Image 2014

acronis true image 2014 Home is a Disk Imaging software which can backup and restore an image of your computer.  If you ever run into a problem with your computer and need to replace your hard drive, you can use acronis true image 2014 to restore your previous image, thus saving you hours in reinstalling your operating system and software.

I started things off by installing the product on the computer, it was really quick and didn’t take much time to install.

The Interfaceacronis true image 2014

The Interface is nice and clean, without too much clutter on the page.  When you first start the software, you are presented with three options to choose from. One is to backup your system, second is to recover your data, and the third is to back up to the cloud.

There are also various tabs to choose from with other features such as backup and recovery, synchronization  and tools and utilities. Once you have selected either one of these you are directed to a more complex menu, but if you are a newbie you shouldn’t have a problem navigating and finding out how to do the tasks.

Backing up the computer for me took around 20 minutes, on my core i5 desktop PC.  When I tested the restore functionality, I restored the computer image from a network share drive, (which was a nice feature), and I did not run into any problems it took around 10 minutes to restore the computer.  When you restore your computer you need to create a boot cd which is used to boot your computer into acronis true image 2014 software. From there it starts a wizard which you follow to restore your image. Your image can be stored in several locations such as an external hard drive, a usb drive or Shared Drive.

  • Has Lot’s of features to choose from
  • choose from file or disk backup
  • cloud storage option

  • If you don’t know what you’re doing, you can potentially erase all your hard drive information

Who is it for?

Whether you are a newbie or an experienced person anyone will be able to figure out the options and what they do.

Whether you are a newbie or experience user, Acronis has lots of features to choose from, however some can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing, with these features you should probably get a professional.  It’s not perfect  at times, for example with working over a network it can take ages to backup or to restore a file and the online cloud backup can take ages, if you have slow bandwidth.
