configure wireless network windows 7If you are doing a DIY Network it is not that complicated, I’d like to give you this simple guide in setting up your own WI-FI connection, and how to configure wireless network windows 7 PC.

Wireless networks can be very complex, but you can easily set up your own computer network in your home to share your Desktop computers, and smartphones so they can communicate with each other to share a single WI-FI connection.


Configuring your Network

When you configure wireless network windows 7. the first thing you will want to do is to configure your wireless router.  Most routers are usually configured by using a web-based interface, and you can use the web-based interface to configure some very important settings for your network.

When you log-in to your wireless router, most of these have a default password which needs to be changed to secure your network.  The next thing you will need to do is Join your windows computer to a wireless network, it is quite simple to do and I would like to share some of my tips with you.


5 steps to setup your wireless network

Here comes the fun part, now that you have all your equipment unpacked, here are 5 simple steps to configure your network;

linksys1. Turn on and connect your computer and router. – you will probably want to connect an RJ45 cable first from your router to computer first while setting up your router.

2. Start your Web Browser – Log on to the administrator page of the router using your web browser this will be something like typing an address consult your manual, it can be different for every type manufacture.

3. Reset your default admin Password – To make your network more secure.

4. Configure the wireless protocol – l  won’t go too much into this, but basically you will want to set an SSID (This is typically a name for your network, the router broadcasts your name so you can see it from your computer and connect to it) and then choose  wireless security on the router – There are many type of wireless Security Protocol these days such as WEP, WPA, and WPA2

Connect Your Windows Computer to Wireless Network

Once you have configured your wireless router, you can configure your Computer or Laptop to join your wireless network.  The steps below can be applied to any wireless network card setup.


Step 1: click start, go to control panel and select Network and Internet

Step 2: Select the Network and Sharing Center icon in the Network and Internet dialog box and click connect to a network

Step 3: Click the wireless network that you want to connect to and click connect



Step 4: If you’re using a secured network you will now be prompted to enter your password



That’s it, you now should be connected to your home network
