How to Partition Hard Disk Drive with EaseUS Partition Master

If you ever need to Create a Second partition, whether it be for storing Data, or another Operating System, it’s quite easy to do so.  You can use Computer Management to Partition Hard Drive, but it can be tedious to some, so I recommend using Third Party Software such as EaseUS Partition Master.    

EaseUS Partition Master is a Partition Management software for your Hard Drive.  It allows you to change your partition size, without loosing data, plus a whole lot more.   Today, I’d like to show you how easy it is to partition hard drive with EaseUS Partition Master. 

Change your Partition Size to Install another Operating System.

If you are fortunate enough to have a large Hard Drive, you can change your existing partition size, so that you can install additional Operating System, or have the spare Partition used for Data Storage  When we Install additional Operating System, this is called Dual Booting, it is beneficial to people who want to test drive the latest Operating System, without purchasing additional Hardware.

 

Getting Started

First, we need to prepare your existing hard disk drive, and split the partition,  next we need to download Easus Partition Master Free – this will be a tool which we will be using to prepare the hard drive to install another Operating System or use for Data Storage.  You can download it from here  It is a pretty easy tool to work with and the Graphical user interface is simple to use.

 

Step 1Once you have installed the software and started the program, click on the Resize/move icon and you are presented with the screen shown below.

Step 2In the next section that says “Decide size and position” move the bar from right to left and then choose the desired size of the new partition.  Once you are happy click the OK button.

Step 3Next we are going to rename the drive partitions so we can identify the partition easier.  To do this select the partition you want to rename. Right click and select change label as shown below.

Step 4Give it a unique name for example, if your Operating System is Windows XP, Name it WXP and click OK.  If it’s Windows 7, Name it “Win7”

Step 5Next, we are going to prepare the new partition hard drive so that we can use that partition for:

 

  • Installing Windows 7 Operating System, If you have Windows XP Installed first
  • Installing Windows 8 Operating System, if you have Windows 7 installed First
  • Installing any other desired Operating System.
  • Or use partition for extra Data Storage

step 6Then we are going to need to give it a unique name, such as W7 OS.  This is the partition where we will install the new Operating System. Press Ok button, once done.

That’s it, in the next step you will need to click on the Apply button to save the changes made.

step 8The computer will then ask you to restart to create the changes.  This may take several minutes.
