Firstly, we need to launch Windows Easy transfer from our new PC. If you are using Windows 8, from the charm bar, search for windows easy transfer until the App comes up. As shown below.
The Windows Easy Transfer wizard will start. As shown below.
Because we are migrating our old files and folders from our old PC over a network, select Network as shown below.
Select ”This is my new PC” to transfer files and folders from your old PC. As shown below.
Choose the Operating System you are going to migrate our files and folders from. In this example we are going to select Windows 7. As shown as below. If you are going to use Windows XP you will need to install Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP
If you haven’t written down the transfer code we got in Part 1 of this guide, you will need to go back to your old computer, to get it. Once you have it press next to continue.
Next, enter your transfer key and press next to continue.
Next it will start to decide what you can transfer. You can transfer more things than files and folders, such as user accounts and program settings
In my example, I was only able to transfer files and folders (which I wanted anyway). There are some limits in what you can transfer depending what version of windows you are using. Click the Advanced Options to choose what files and folders you want to transfer.
Choose what you want to transfer, if you want to transfer documents, etc. In this example I am choosing all as shown in the green ticks. Then click Advanced as shown in red circle.
Choose your selection and Press save button as shown below.
If you have proceeded this far your files and folders should now start transferring. It may take some time depending the amount of contents you have to transfer across.
Once done, check your new PC and your files and folders should be now available.
